Sun Protection
Sun Protection
Now the weather is hot and sunny it is important that your child is protected in the times that they are outside. Having consulted with the Local Authority our school policy is as follows:
- Children should bring a hat to wear when they are outside in the sun
- Children should wear clothes which cover their shoulders
- Parents should apply all-day sun cream before the children come to school (which should protect them for the whole school day)
- Staff are not permitted to apply sun cream to children for health and safety reasons
- If parents do not have all-day sun cream and think their child could apply it to themselves, then they could bring some to school in a named container
- It is a strict rule that children are not allowed to share sun cream (to avoid cross-contamination of any skin infections) or apply it to each other and parents should make this clear to their children please.
-
Children are encouraged to sit in the shade if it is extremely hot
